On the website we have a team of over 200 members all who share a passion for Sport Psychology. Each member of our team brings their own expertise to the website with experience in all areas of sport. The team comprises of sport psychologists, nutritionists, physiologists, PhD students, masters students and undergraduates.

Adam Morris

Adam is managing director of BelievePerform which he founded in 2012. Adam has a passion for inspiring, educating and helping others to overcome problems and develop positive mental health. He is focused on reducing the stigma attached to mental health and building online content that can be used to help build people’s resilience and coping skills.

Chris Shambrook

PhD in Psychology and expert knowledge of the psychology of elite performance in teams and individuals. Chiefly associated with the Great Britain Rowing Team throughout their Olympic success. Chris takes the lessons learned from Olympic Champions and applies them to help enhance corporate performance.

Adam Kelly

I played cricket up to County 2nd XI standard, after which I returned to education. I completed my BSc Sports Coaching and have moved on to my PhD. My thesis is looking into pre performance routines. My background enables me to understand the science, difficulties and struggles that athletes face from their point of view. I have provided mental skills training to the High Performance Academy athletes here at Southampton Solent University. I am currently working with Millfield School Cricket team and working towards my BASES SE accreditation.

Aine Brislane

In possession of a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and an MSc in Nutrition and Health, I am currently working with Bupa as a Health Advisor. I have a keen interest in research and do my best to remain up to date with the goings on in the world of health science!

Alex Freemantle

I am currently studying on a BPS accredited Sport and Exercise Psychology Masters course after graduating from Brunel University with a first class honours degree in Psychology (BSc). I have been volunteering as an Education and Player Welfare Assistant for the past three seasons at a championship football club and, through those experiences, I have been able to learn first hand how elite sports teams can be motivated and led effectively. I am especially interested in research related to leadership and youth development.

Alex Robinson

’m currently studying for a BSc Hon in Sports and Exercise Sciences at the University of Sunderland; I’ve been a competitive athlete from the age of 9, competing in both swimming and rowing. Currently I have a Level 3 qualification in Sports Massage and will be looking to further my ability to deal with athletes suffering from injury as this can play a big part in the psychology of athletes.

Professor Andy Lane

Andrew Lane is a Professor of Sport Psychology at the University of Wolverhampton. He is accredited from the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) for scientific support and research and Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. He has authored more than 100 peer refereed journal articles and edited two books. He is a member of the Emotion regulation of others and self research network (www.erosresearch.org) investigating emotion regulation in sport and other settings. His applied work has involved a number of clients including the English Institute of Sport and the London Boxing Association working with an athlete preparing for World Championship contests. A former amateur boxer, he remains active in sport as a runner and duathlete and after shedding 20 kilos is enjoying competition again.

Annie Vernon

Annie Vernon is a two-time World Champion and Olympic silver medallist rower. She competed in two Olympic Games (Beiing 2008 and London 2012) and seven World Championships. She now works as a sports journalist and corporate speaker and trainer, and has recently published a book on the psychology of elite sport.

I am currently studying at the University of Bath for a BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree. I am particularly interested in motivation and leadership, understanding what makes people ‘tick’ and how to maximise their potential.

Charlotte Chandler

I am Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Staffordshire University. I have a PhD from Liverpool John Moores University, which explored the personal qualities of effective sport psychologists and how they interact with their work within elite sport environments. Other particular interests within sport psychology include counselling approaches to practice, and organisational psychology in performance environments. I have taught across undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes and maintain a keen interest in developing our curriculum to best prepare our students for applied practice. I have also completed a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science (Psychology) and an MSc in Psychology of Sport, both at LJMU, and I am Fellow of the HEA.

Cherokee Washington is a California native with degrees in Psychology and Honors Rhetoric Studies from Whitman College. At Whitman, she was a member of the varsity volleyball team, an active social justice advocate, and held several diversity and inclusion related positions within student government and community service programming. Cherokee currently works at Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences as the Administrative Assistant of Diversity Initiatives and a varsity assistant coach for the beach/indoor volleyball teams. Additionally, she is currently pursuing Masters degrees in Sport Psychology and Journalism, while aspiring to play professional beach volleyball with the AVP. Her ultimate goal is to become a Cultural Sport Psychologist and Rhetorical Journalist, combining her passion for equity, psychology, and rhetoric

I have always been interested in sport psychology and my first experiences came while completing my BSc in Psychology at the University of the West of England, Bristol. During the course I carried out a research project investigating the behaviour of sports fans, where I compared professional athletes perceptions of fan behaviour. I have since worked for a variety of sports media publications, which involved interviewing and working with a host of sports personalities. I am now looking to expand on my experiences in sport psychology and I am currently undertaking an MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology.

Dr Mark Robinson

Dr. Mark Robinson is a world leader in understanding the behavior and personal development needs of student and professional athletes. Hannah Ray

Hannah graduated with a first class BSc (hons) Exercise and Health Science and is currently an MPhil/PhD student at the University of Brighton and working toward BASES certified exercise practitioner status. Hannah works on both the University's GP referral and Cardiac Rehab Phase IV programmes. Hannah's research interests include the physiological and psychological responses to high-intensity intermittent exercise and applying this concept to the 'real life' setting.

Hannah Stoyel

Hannah is an HCPC registered Sport Psychologist and a fully Chartered Sport Psychologist with the BPS. Hannah works with clients in private practice at Optimise Potential, with Reading FC girls' Academy, and is one of the lead Sport Psychologists for Swim England. She has a PhD in Clinical Sport Psychology from UCL where she focussed her research on disordered eating in athletes.

Helen Davis is a Sport Psychology consultant. She works with individuals, groups, teams, coaches in a range of different sports from elite athletes to novices. I have always wanted to be a sports psychologist, ever since studying it at A-Level. After graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Psychology with Sports Science, I was lucky enough to land a job coaching hockey for two years in Melbourne, Australia. Upon my return to the UK I started my MSc in Sports and Exercise Psychology at Loughborough University. In the past few months I have started working with local cricket and hockey teams to increase their awareness of sports psychology and to increase their performance. I am interested in the psychology of coaching and performance psychology.
