  1. Spend some time thinking about and identifying a list of your top 5 values. Use the following questions to help with your answer: What’s important to me right now? Common values include love, friendship, family, work and social relations.
  2. Once you have identified your values it is important to identify what these values mean for you and how you would like to live them e.g. value: family – I want to be a kind, caring and loving family member. To help with this think about role models and values and strengths you admire among them.
  3. Reflect on your values and how important they are to you. Think about the last few months and what things you have been doing regularly to contribute to these values. Don’t worry if you feel you have not been as successful working towards your values. Useful questions: What things have I been doing to contribute to my values? How can I get better at working towards my values?
  4. Focus on 2 or 3 values and think about the actionable behaviours you can take that will allow you work towards your values on a weekly basis e.g. value – friends – I am going to call my friends once a week and check in on them. Working towards your values on a regular basis can provide you with a sense of purpose and meaning.
